Lonely Rock 7" EP
LIP CREAM's second-phase lineup (Minoru - Bass, Maru - Drums, Naoki - Guitar, Vocal - JhaJha) presents their first solo release: LONELY ROCK.
Recorded all in one night at Shinjuku JAM Studio, all the tracks were completed at an astonishing pace. The music defies categorization into hardcore or punk, incorporating the raw energy of hard rock and early punk, already shaping LIP CREAM's distinctive sound, rough yet fully formed. The music was primarily composed by Minoru and Naoki, with lyrics and artwork by JhaJha. The original release date was set for 15 August, the day of Japan's surrender in World War II, at the band's request.
In 2013, a digital remastered EP was reissued as part of a reissue project by FUUDO BRAIN, but it didn’t make a full complete reissue since it could not discover the original inner sleeve with POWER STATION printed.
In this Relapse version, the 2013 digitally remastered audio is included, along with a reproduction of the ‘POWER STATION’ inner sleeve. And of course, the bonus mini sticker is also included, it finally achieved a complete reissue in its original form.
Night Rider More Than Fight! 7" EP
LIP CREAM’s NIGHTRIDER MORE THAN FIGHT EP follows the release of their legendary ‘LONELY ROCK’ album. Recorded in a single night at Studio EVE in Osaka during their Kansai tour, this piece has been frozen in time. 41 years since its initial release, NIGHTRIDER MORE THAN FIGHT has now been digitally remastered.
The track list includes ‘When The Punx Go Marching In’ ‘NIGHTRIDER MORE THAN FIGHT’ and ‘YELLOW BEAUTY’ on Side A, and ‘VX-2’ and ‘GOOD CHOICE’ on Side AA, total of five tracks.
The music was composed primarily by Minoru and Naoki, with lyrics and artwork by JhaJha. The artwork features a six-fold poster jacket in AA's format at the time, centered around a photo of the military demarcation line between South and North Korea, with a design aligned with AA's style. Compared to the original LIP CREAM artwork, which featured a full-color, solid design atypical of hardcore punk, this version has a distinctive finish.
Regarding this artwork, JhaJha later commented, “It was requested by PON (LAUGHIN' NOSE) to align it with AA's label image at the time, but I struggled with the unfamiliar design style.” The dissatisfaction with the artwork's outcome was also a significant reason why it did not get re-released until now.
Additionally, while the credits list Maru and Pill side by side, Pill did not actually participate in the recording, as it was done in Osaka during Maru's tenure.
