Blockheads: Reveal New Album Details
French grindcore activists BLOCKHEADS have revealed the details of their forthcoming 5th full-length and first album in over six years entitled This World Is Dead. Recorded in Geneva Switzerland at Terrier 5 with Jerome of NOSTROMO / MUMAKIL, This World Is Dead features 25 songs clocking in at over 40 minutes of brutally efficient, grade-A, frenzied grind. The album will see it’s release on CD/LP/Digital on January 22nd (N. America), Jan 21st (UK/World), and Jan 18th (Germany/Benelux/Finland). The album’s artwork and pre-order options are available now at this location while a trailer featuring a sample of new material is available here.
The band commented on the upcoming album:
“We think that our new tracks mirror the same state of mind which still exists since Blockheads' beginning and we can't wait for its release and to play on stage again.”
Formed 20 years ago, BLOCKHEADS (Xav - vocals, Fred - guitar/vocals, Nico - drums/vocals & Eric - bass/vocals) have unleashed four full-lengths in addition to numerous splits, comps and DVDs. The band has toured throughout Europe with such genre heavyweights as Napalm Death, Nasum, Carcass and Brutal Truth.
"Brutally efficient grindcore, twenty short, sharp, shocks' worth of whiplash headbanging complete with vividly misanthropic lyrics, precision unison riffing, and a solid line in double-time blastbeat drumming..." - allmusic
"It's a damn shame their status in the grind world isn't higher. This is truly devastating on all levels..." -metal-archives
"...Blockheads only come with one setting: scorched earth assault. Shapes of Misery, their fourth long player, is molar-cracking blasts and implacable dentist drill riffing..." - grind and punishment
