BLACK ANVIL: Begin Writing New Record; Announce Tour Dates with Watain

Posted 5/7/12

NYC’s unholy black metal warriors BLACK ANVIL have begun writing their follow-up to 2010’s critically acclaimed Triumvirate. The band has begun tracking rough demos for the new full length and plan to record in early 2013. Bassist / Vocalist Paul Delaney commented on the new material:

“This is a darker, deeper record than our previous releases and a natural progression down the chosen path. Musically, and lyrically.. we will take our form to the next level.”

Additionally, the band has announced a string of dates with Sweden’s controversial black metal kings WATAIN. The shows kick off on May 14th in Poughkeepsie, NY and wrap up on May 18th in Detroit, MI. A complete listing of dates is available below.

***All Dates May 14-18 w/ WATAIN***

May 14 Poughkeepsie, NY The Loft
May 15 Cleveland, OH Peabody’s
May 16 Joliet, IL Mojoe’s

“Black Anvil's an amazing live band…and their songwriting's as strong as their stage presence.” - Pitchfork

“an unholy creature of shadow.” - BrooklynVegan

“A bad-ass blistering debut full length!” – Decibel Magazine

“A potential All-Round monster metal band!” – Fenriz (DARKTHRONE)

“The New York trio plays a brawny style of traditional black metal that owes as much to Motorhead and 80s punk/hardcore as it does Darkthrone.” – Outburn

“Black Anvil recall the dank and dingy old school black metal din of Darkthrone, also summoning up Enslaved-esque sweeping mournful soundscapes, though its never too long before they’re jumping back onto a classic-style hellish riff-ride.”- Kerrang

“simultaneously brutal, melodic, belligerent, grotesque, and bone-chilling in one blackened, blood-soaked package.” – Examiner.com
